AKC Family Dog ProgramTherapy Dogs are trained to be friendly and outgoing. They should be calm and with a stable temperament. They must be able to be around a variety of people in different situations and environments.Therapy Dogs provide psychological or physiological therapy to individuals of need. These dogs go with their owners to volunteer their time at schools, nursing homes, hospitals, libraries, rehab centers, etc. "From working with a child who is learning to read to visiting a senior in assisted living, therapy dogs and their owners work together as a team to improve the lives of other people."
