A NEW OTCH BOUVIER … CONTINUING THE TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE

 In August of 2006, Reginald Cobb and his teammate, Redwind’s Yonnie O’Mine, UDX etched their place in breed history by becoming the 3rd Bouvier to earn the coveted AKC Obedience Trial Champion title (OTCH) title. Yonnie is the also the 2nd Bouvier bitch to earn this title. 

Reg and Yonnie began their OTCH quest in January of 2003; traveling to numerous trials along the south and east coast. The word started to spread about “The Bouvier” competing in obedience. In a sport often dominated by Golden Retrievers, Shelties and Border Collies, they have amassed 116 qualifying scores with an average score of 196.2. Her highest score so far has been a 199 out of a perfect 200. 

Yonnie has accumulated some very impressive wins including two 1st place wins in the Utility B class and seven in the Open B class. She has six High In Trials and four High Combined honors. She currently has a total of 18 UDX (Utility Dog Excellent) legs. A UDX leg is earned when a dog obtains qualifying scores in both Open B and Utility B classes at a trial. A dog earns a UDX title when he earns 10 UDX legs. 

For the past two years, Yonnie and Reg were invited to and compete in the prestigious AKC National Obedience Invitational in Tampa, Florida.  To compete in the AKC National Obedience Invitational dogs must be the top OTCH and OTCH-pointed dogs in each breed. This is where the best strut their stuff and Reg and Yonnie represented the breed well.

 Yonnie not only has brains but the beauty to match. She has earned nine points toward her conformation championship and Reg is currently contemplating finishing her title. But for now, they have taken a much deserved short break from their hectic obedience schedule, with their eye on competing again in the late fall. Watch out Goldens, Shelties and Border Collies, “The OTCH Bouvier” will be heading back to an obedience ring near you!
